Between the 1st and 3rd October 2014, the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI) seminar was held in Almelo, eastern Netherlands. The IAATI conference is an annual event and this year Launch Tech Co Ltd were one of its silver sponsors. Attending on behalf of Launch Tech/ CUBEs project were Mr. Martin Coyne and John Reynolds.

 

Approximately 300 attendees with backgrounds in the professions associated with vehicle crime investigation were present at the seminar. IAATI President Renato Schipani of INTERPOL during his opening address gave an update on vehicle crime worldwide and referred to the need for all agencies to continue to cooperate and to proactively tackle vehicle crime with all possible means and methods, as criminals are very innovative is devising new techniques and in exploiting weakness in vehicle security. Artur Romanowski of EUROPOL also gave a presentation on Vehicle Crime in Europe.?

 

The seminar was organized in the style of a main events hall where business such as introductions, overview of the seminar??s theme, and presentations of the event sponsors, coffee breaks and networking were accommodated. Breakout sessions for the many presentations and audience interaction concerning vehicle crime, fraud and road crashes were accommodated in satellite rooms. Audience participation and interaction was high and encouraged so as members could share and exchange experiences.

 

Many of the presentations, reporting and discussions in the main address and the breakout sessions revolved around the traditional, the present and the anticipated future trends and practices worldwide, concerning vehicle crime and fraudulent practices. On the opening morning of the seminar, Mr. Martin Coyne from the CUBEs project gave an introductory presentation. This was followed on day 3 of the seminar by a full presentation on the CUBEs.

 

As part of this full presentation, a live demonstration of the cubes was also held outdoors and presented by John Reynolds. Again, interest in the CUBES and the golo carcare over the course of this special and leading three-day training seminar was very high.
